26/02 : Upcoming BQPA Festival in Tempe Az
As in years past there will be lots of quartetting, woodshedding and tagging. There will not be any (serious) competition or judging. ALL singers are welcome to carry their part.
Hometown Harmony heartily endorses the BQPA, and encourages all Barbershop lovers to come to this festival. It is a very PARTICIPATORY experience. So if you prefer to sit and listen to other quartets singing, you might not like it. If you like to sing, you will love it.
Check out the BQPA forum for discussions about the upcoming festival.

23/08 : New BQPA Chestnut - Maple Leaves
This tune was written in 1913 and therefore is in the public domain (one of the criteria the BQPA has for selecting such songs.)
Because of its age it is a very fundamental example of the Barbershop Style. It is very easy to sing for all parts, and has many wonderful chords to enjoy.
You can get the Spots and learn how to sing your part using the Hometown Harmonizer by clicking the following link:

18/07 : Hometown Harmony Radio
Featuring selections from the Jack Baird library of recordings, Hometown Harmony Radio is a trip into the distant past when Barbershop Harmony was still young and part of mainstream music. Because these recordings date from before 1923 they are all public domain. We have digitally processed them to remove noise and enhance the contrast to bring out the harmonies.
Featured songs in this Broadcast are:
Way Down Yonder in New Orleans
The Sidewalks of New York

13/03 : Free Banner Ads for All!
In 'the real world' a shingle is a sign that is displayed outside a place of business to let people know the name of the business, and what sort of service they provide.
On Hometown Harmony, a shingle is a small banner ad that appears on your profile page. You create your shingle using whatever graphics program you like, and then upload it on your 'Settings' page. You also provide an address (URL in internet-speak) for a web page that you would like other users to see if they click your shingle.
Most sites charge for banner advertising, sometimes for every click. Not so with Hometown Harmony! There is absolutely no charge for posting a shingle on your profile. No charge for the shingle and no charge for clicks!
How do you get other users to see your shingle? By being active in the community of course! If you post tags and/or tracks, and comment on other members postings, then you will draw attention to yourself. Users will visit your profile and see your shingle.
So post your shingle today!
